In this video we’ll talk a bit about some classical fingerstyle licks you can learn. This is important to get under your fingers and the time you spend working on it now will prove very useful once we get further into the repertoire part of the course.
We’ll also learn a few exercises that you can use to practice these licks. Take it slow at first, and then ease the tempo up on your metronome as you get more comfortable playing through each exercise.
These licks will help you fill up your “bag of licks” that every guitar player needs to have. These are all based on things that I’ve stolen from Chet Atkins, who said it was “petty theft” when he heard them. He was right, but that’s the way that these things work – I steal it from Chet, you steal it from me, and then someone hears you play it and steals it from you.
